Early in the morning of the 25th we, Irakli and I, left the dorms to go to Riga. Here we met up with Robin, Zane – mentor or Robin, Eriks – boyfriend of Zane, August and Eva – friends of Zane. Around 9.30 we left towards Kuldiga. To visit the heart of Latvia, this heart has a beautiful pearl which is the waterfall, the widest in Europe. Then we had some lunch before heading towards the country side where we would stay for the night. This house had a lovely atmosphere. The toilet for example was one you can see in country films behind the house in a separate little box with a heart in the door. First we dropped our backs/food before the exchange students, zane and Eva headed into the forest for a walk. During the walk August and Eriks made the house warm as well as starting cooking dinner. We ate a salad with some cottage cheese and cucumbers. After we played a few games. Then we went to bed and had 1 extra hour for sleeping due to the time change. The next morning we quickly packed our stuff before heading to Liepaja, which is the third biggest city of Latvia. It is place located at the coast. This city is known as the windiest city of Latvia which definitely proved the reason for its name. Here we did some sightseeing as well as visiting Korasta. This was in Soviet times, a very isolated military training area, including a military prison where "underperforming" soldiers were interned. At 12 pm we had a tour of the prison. This tour lasted an hour, here we learned what it was like to be a prisoner, such as standing straight and having to put one foot in front and waiting for 10 minutes if you fall, you will be locked in isolation. After the tour we had some lunch before going to Riga. Here we took the bus back to Valmiera.
