Bagan and travel to Thailand

Dear readers,

As you know, I rented an e-bike to travel within Bagan. With the entire group, 42 people – including 3 teachers, we went by e-bikes to a monastery and got a lovely explanation of what it is like to live in a monastery and what it is like to be a monk or non. After that we could travel ourselves on the e-bikes. It was really beautiful driving through so many buddhistic temples.

The following day we did exactly the same. In the afternoon we went back to our hotel and swam a bit in the swimming pool before once again driving along the temples. We also knew it would be the last time. Happily we went because we saw the sunset through the temples.

The day after we had to wake up around 6 o’clock, to take the bus half an hour later. We drove from Bagan to Mandalay. Here we took an airplane to Bangkok. Entering Thailand took quite some time, when everyone was in the country we went to a bus and drove to Donsak, south of Thailand. We stopped for dinner at Hua Hin. Here was a night market, where we had some nice Thai food.

Early in the morning around 6 o’clock we arrived in Donsak. Here we took the ferry to Koh Samui. In Koh Samui we checked in the Nora Lake View hotel and where off for the rest of the day.

The next day I was in a group that had to go to several lectures. However in return I was Wednesday off and could travel with my group to our study area. This means, they divided Koh Samui in 20 parts and every group has a specific part where you have to research for approx 1.5 week. We, Ine and Micheline and I, travelled to our hostel. The rest of the day we where free and spent on the beach, walking around.

On Thursday we had the first meeting with the lecturers and discussed what we noticed so far and what we could do looking forward. On Friday we walked around the entire area, except for the Hospital. We talked to locals as well as foreigners, we made a few appointments with hotels etc.

And now it is Saturday. This morning we made questions since one of the hotels prefers to have the questions beforehand. The rest of the day we took off.

Love,
Joëlle
