Around Kampala – 8 February 2016

Dear all,
I arrived on Saturday the 6th of February in Entebbe International Airport. This is the famous airport of Uganda due to the hijacking of a plane by the Israeli in 1983. Before entering the country I had to go through custom. Although I am staying for quite a while the customs officer never asked anything except for the amount of money needed to get the visa. The procedures in the airport went very quickly. When I got outside Josef (from the organization) picked me up and brought me to the Shine hotel. Here I will be staying for 2 nights.
At the hotel I met Felex, the person I have been talking to over the e-mail. He shortly explained what we should do on Sunday and that we will leave on Monday. Then we went together into the town to arrange a sim card (which allows me to call and use internet (as long as I have connection)), then we went for a late lunch/early dinner. Then I returned to the hotel and slept my first night in Uganda.
The next day, I met Felex at the hotel around 10 am. First, we travelled by mini-bus to the office of UCOTA (Uganda Community Tourism Association). Secondly, we travelled downtown by the ‘boda boda’ (motorbike). Here we bought a few things, walked a while, bought a few more things and had late lunch. After finishing shopping I said goodbye to Felex and took a boda boda back to the hotel.
The next day, on Monday the 8 of February, we traveled to Ruboni Community Camp. This means from Kampala there goes a public bus to Kasese town (approx. 400km, taking 6 hours). We got off the bus around 5km before Kasese. From here, we took a taxi (for 17 km) to the final destination.
