Road trip with my mom. (Riga to Valmiera)

Dear readers,

As I have mentioned in my previous story we called for our pickup at the airport around 4 pm on Monday. We were picked up at exactly 4 pm and we drove to a fitness/tennis building. Here we signed for a car lease. Then my mom drove while I was reading a map (yes, on paper – oldskool) towards Jurmala. In this area we asked the tourist information if we were going in the right direction. We were but it is always good to be sure. Finally we found the place where we would be staying*. We stayed in a small bedroom in an apartment on the 8th floor of Jelena’s and her husband in a soviet looking flat.
The next day, Tuesday (26-8), we left the apartment around 10. First we went to Maxima, which is a supermarket. Here we bought a few things for dinner and something small for breakfast. Then we hit the road by driving north along the beach to Mersrags. During this part of the day we walked around Keniery Nacionalais parks and we also walked somewhere along the road towards the beach. In mersrags we had a very lovely lunch, we had a starter and a main course and both a drink (we paid €13 – cheap!). The next part of the journey took us from Mersrags to Talski. Talski was a small city which was built on top of a hill however when entering the centre it looked like no-one was there.
After Talski we wanted to go through Sabile – Kandava – Tukums. However they were working around Kandava therefore we drove through Sabile – Püces – Tukums. In Tukums we easily found our way to the place we would be staying*. This place is Levintas which is a lovely kind of looking like a ski hut with about 5 (12m2) bedrooms on the 1ste floor while on ground level there is a restaurant/kitchen. The area where Levintas is looks really beautiful.
The following day, Wednesday (27-8), we left the Levintas. First we went to the supermarket Maxima and bought our lunch/dinner. Then we looked on the map how to get to the place we wanted to go to. Therefore we drove towards Auce before heading into Lithuania. In Lithuania we drove to Naujoji Akmenè to Joniskis. In Joniskis we went to tiptop supermarket and saw an interesting castle. Then we went back to Latvia, a place called Jelgava. However halfway on the road to Jelgava we went towards Bauska. In Bauska there was a beautiful castle. Then we headed to Iecava. In Iecava we found easily our way. Then we arrived at our place where we would be sleeping.
The day after (28-8) we drove towards Valmiera. In the afternoon we arrived in Valmiera. The head of the international office Liga Cvetkova showed me the place I would be living in. Then we went to Parcs which is a restaurant before heading to bed.

On the 29th my mom drove back to Riga. Have a safe flight home!

*We were staying overnight by R&B’s which is a hotel from public to public, therefore you are staying in people’s their home for a small price.
