I have been thinking about helping TECC and RCC with a small donation directed in cases which can really help them. Around the beginning of April, my mom suggested to do a crowdfunding. I dismissed the idea as I believe the Ugandans see the whites as their saviours, giving them a donation might give the wrong impact. However, as I see their struggles and see potential in their ideas, it would much more be an useful investment instead of a donation. Of course, the money will not be refunded but I know it will impact both businesses in a positive way.
In terms of Ruboni, I like to help them in terms of providing ‘’mosquito’’ nets (for all windows) blocking big flies etc. from entering the room. Some people have complained in terms of the amount of moths or flies while entering the room for the first time. Myself, I know that while I am in Ruboni, I will be surrounded with a lot of flies etc. You get used to it. But if you are a bit scared of any type of fly and then in a country where they are in size much bigger I can imagine it is not a pleasant experience.
In terms of TECC, I like to help them in terms of providing the invertor. This invertor would ensure that people could actually charge equipment (a camera, a phone, a laptop etc.). At the moment, the issues with water have been resolved due to receiving a big tank which can be used as a reserve. There is electricity in terms of solar power providing lights in the accommodation. There are no lights in the reception or along the pathways. These can be installed after having power. On the other hand, a fridge and other can be plugged in. In total, I think TECC can benefit from receiving power (in terms of charging) to focus on long-term stays as well as help themselves.
I would appreciate if you would be able to help in terms of a small donations. All little bits help. The donations can be donated to the details (as I do not want private details known publically) received by my mom. Please email her on glerum.kok@casema.nl if you would like to make a donation.
Thank you for your time.
Love,
Joëlle
